When it comes to feeding my lot, nothing fancy is the name of the game. With five of them to feed, plus Eddie and I, dinner in this house has to be fast, easy and no messing. I gave up trying to be a proper chef a long time ago. My rule is simple, if it can't be on the table in half an hour, it is not a school-night dinner.

It always starts in Aldi

My weekly shop in Aldi is the thing that keeps it all together. I stock up for the full week, and before I go I sit down and write out a list, planning the dinners ahead. It sounds like a small thing, but honestly it is the bit that makes the whole week run that much easier.

I'm always on the hunt for new recipes, but we all know the fear, you go to the trouble of making something new and then not a soul will touch it! So during the week I tend to play it safe. Aldi have some brilliant recipes online that I keep coming back to, so I'll share a few of my favourites below, and you can have a browse through the rest here.

The paella that won them over

I shared a reel recently where I made my own paella. Well, my version of it, with a little help from ChatGPT. I threw in rice and veg and made up the seasoning and sauce myself, and honestly, it went down a treat.

Now, nobody in this house eats the same dinner, ever, that is just the way of it with five of them, so for this one to go down well with the whole lot of them, minus the twins of course, was nothing short of a miracle!

Go easy on yourself

Here is the thing I would say to any busy mammy reading this. If everyone is fed and happy and you are not in a heap over it, that is a win in my book.
