The twins are finally down, Teddy is sprawled across the kitchen floor like he's the one who's been run off his feet all day, and I've locked the bathroom door behind me. Hair Wash Day has arrived, and I have to say, it's the closest thing to a spa I'll get around here.
Now, I'll be honest with you. When you're a mammy of five, hair wash day isn't a little pamper you slot in whenever it suits. It's an event. There's a bit of strategy involved, because the second that water goes on, you can be sure someone will need something. But I've learned to guard this little window with my life, and honestly, it's made all the difference.
The only ones I use

Why this small thing matters
To all the mammies out there, our days are full, so it's easy to let the little things that make us feel good slide right down the list. There's always a wash to be put on, a lunch to be made, someone looking to be fed. But I've come to see this little bit of me time not as a treat I have to earn, but as the thing that keeps me going.
So from one busy mammy to another. Lock the door. Put the good shampoo on. Let the dryer drown out the racket for a while, we deserve it!
